About Us

Reno Concerts, formerly Washoe County Concerts, is the oldest performing arts presenter in Nevada and an all volunteer organization. Started in 1934, Reno Concerts has changed from just being an entertainment venue to and educational organization, providing a musical opportunities to thousands of students every year.

Our mission

• To enhance the arts in Truckee Meadows and to broaden the musical appreciation of local residents by celebrating culturally diverse music, and bringing international artists as well as American performers to our community so that all may celebrate a wide range of music and enjoy the experience at an affordable price.

• To give outstanding young musicians an opportunity to perform outside the traditional recital experience. To encourage and celebrate outstanding local young musicians by providing them a performance venue. To provide a concert and interactive experience at local schools with professional musicians. To support local school music programs.

• In doing so, we provide community members with exposure and introductions to musical styles and artists that they may not be aware of, or may not be represented in the local area. It is our hope that our audience can come to appreciate, take pleasure in, and value all types of musical genres and cultures.

Our Vision

• A setting where the audience reflects the diversity of our community, and individuals are excited and enthusiastic about listening to quality music from all over the world, as well as that of the United States. A setting where young people are engaged in musical studies that include appreciation and performance.

2008-2009 Season

February 27, 2009Marie-Andree Ostiguy
Pianist and composer, Ostiguy, brings a unique style to interest and entertain with passionate performances of classical works and original compositions. Ostiguy has been a part of the Canadian musical landscape for almost twenty years. Having attended the prestigious institutions of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, the Juilliard School of Music in New York, Indiana University, the Banff School of Fine Arts and the Université de Montréal, Marie-Andrée has also had the opportunity to further her musicianship with the renowned masters André Laplante, Gyorgy Sebok, Shigeo Neriki, Jacinthe Couture and Henri Brassard.

May 21, 2009Maxwell St. Klezmer Band of Chicago
The Maxwell Street Klezmer Band, founded in 1983, brings a kaleidoscope of colors and moods and an old-fashioned spirit of fun to their performance of traditional Jewish music. The combination of dance music, folk songs, theatre medleys and jazzy Yiddish pop music from the 1930's to the 1950's creates a rich, multi-dimensional experience of the lost world of Eastern European Jewish culture, combined with vignettes of America as seen through immigrant eyes. Audiences of all backgrounds are delighted by Maxwell Street's high-energy performances that glow with warmth and humor.
